Happy Birthday Emma

 

Happy 5th Birthday, babygirl!  It’s her official birthday today and my perfect plans leading up to this day are shot.  In my mind’s eye, her 3rd & 4th birthday posts would have been already done.  The pictures from her party on Saturday would be loaded and on today’s post.  But sometimes technology disagrees with our goals and we have to refresh them.  And so, I’ve gone to plan B.  Her 3rd birthday post if finally up after much disagreeing with Rockyou.  For some reason, it wouldn’t let me upload them.  I finally got it though.  Her 4th birthday pictures are completely missing for now and so I won’t be adding them anytime soon.  Maybe they’ll be found by her 6th birthday.  And transferring her party pictures from Sat was more difficult and will have to wait until later this week.

In the meantime, I am finally back!  We had the best time and I’ll be posting all the fun things we did.  We did a ton of fun stuff and I got a pretty decent tan, if I do say so myself   I’ll be loading those pics and video’s later on this week too.

And now, I have to run up to the store and get Emma’s birthday present.  We’re going to get her a big girl bed instead of her toddler daybed she has now.  And complete it with brand new bedding!  Being gone last week made it impossible to shop before now and so I’m a little behind.  Wish me luck!

The week of Emma part cinq

 

Emma’s 3rd birthday was fun and came fast.  That was a crazy year for us.  We already had a rental and decided to purchase the house next door to ours to flip.  It sounded great on paper, but real life is rarely as you plan.  Little did we know that our renter was going to bail on us and that the housing market would take a big dump.  It was a tough year but we somehow managed.  Her birthday party was a nice

The week of Emma part quatre

Emma’s 2nd birthday was HOT!  We had just cut down a GINORMOUS tree in the backyard and I spent the week before the party splitting logs whenever the kids were napping.  Ya, can you even picture me splitting logs?  *Phew*  It wasn’t pretty but it had to get done.  Dan is always the busiest during the summer (like 16hr days busy) so he had neither the time or the energy to do it.

Emma’s first birthday was an exciting time.  She had just started walking a couple weeks before and gotten her bottom teeth the week before her birthday.  As always, she was adorable

The week of Emma part deux

Becoming new parents is never a seamless transition but I do think that Dan & I handled it ok.  Emma was an easy baby except for putting her down.  We finally figured out at her 2week checkup that she had just a touch of reflux.  Not enough to medicate but enough that we could not lay her flat to sleep.  Thus, she slept in her car seat for the first few months of her life.  I felt really weird about that at first but it was where she slept best and with no pain so that’s what we did.  When she was about 4 months old, I transitioned her to the bassinet (I know, strange, huh?) and then at 6 months, she moved into her crib.

7 Weird Things About Me

1.  I can tie a cherry stem into a knot with my mouth.  Unfortunately, none of my talents is useful in any job but it makes for fun at parties

2.  I hate for people to hear me sing.  In fact, Dan and I had been married for about 5 years before he heard me sing anything.

In lieu of Emma’s ever approaching birthday, I decided to dedicate an entire week to her!  This week will be about her life in photos.  I recently found a bunch of pictures and loaded them up into this computer and so I’ll be sharing Disc 1 today.  This is a little bit of what life was like while I was very much pregnant with her and the first couple days of her life.
