Alas, the school year is nearly done. Today is Emma’s last day and jam packed with all kinds of fun things. A field trip to the park, a funny guest speaker… all of these events need my presence. While I’m always delighted at the chance to work at Em’s school or do a field trip with them, I’m a little overwhelmed right now. The B family vacation to Ludington starts Saturday and there’s much work to be done.
It’s a little exhausting getting ready to leave. So much preperation. There’s not only your regular duties you need to fufull but then life likes to throw you some curve balls at the last second. Four extra Read the rest of this entry »
Memorial Day Weekend
Saturday May 23, 2009

It’s Memorial Weekend. Time for camping, bonfires and hanging out with friends/family. Kind of a trial run before summer actually begins. At this point, particularly in Michigan, people are bugging out for summer. We’ve managed to survive the cruelty of winter and deserve our just reward of sunshine. And so, while ushering in the new season, I felt updates were due in our lives.
Cash has had an amazing recovery. He Read the rest of this entry »

Letting a tid be a tid
Saturday April 11, 2009

Gerrit & Emma have known about Chuckie Cheese’s for a long time but we’ve never gone. As I drove down 28th street, they never failed to see the mouse off in the distance and scream “Chuckie Cheese, Mom, Chuckie Cheese!” like crazed Beatles fans. This was always followed by “can we please go?”, more begging ensued. It never seemed a practical time to go. Either we were doing something right then, money was tight or it was nice out and I refuse to take them in the summer when we can play outside for free.
Gerrit would remind us constantly “Chuckie cheese is where a tid can be a tid”. I know Gerrit, we’ll go soon. Read the rest of this entry »

The sweetest thing
Thursday March 12, 2009
As I’ve mentioned before, we have a couple extra kids that I watch during the week. One of those is a sweet little girl named Nadia. She’s about 16mnths old and as cute as can be. Emma & Gerrit love having both TJ and Nadia here but for some reason, they love holding Nadia’s hand in the car. Everyday when we go to pick Emma and/or Gerrit from school, I can look back there and see them reaching across to hold her hand and her reaching Read the rest of this entry »
Father/Daughter Dance
Friday February 13, 2009
Last weekend, Dan took Emma to her first dance. While he wasn’t thrilled to be going to a dance, he was happy to be doing something special with Emma. The dance was semi-formal and so Emma wore a dress she got for Christmas and I curled her hair with curlers. To say she was excited would be putting it mildly.

Dan suffered through the dance and Emma had a fantastic time. They had a dancer there that danced like a robot and Emma got to stay up an hour past her bedtime! She was a happy but tired squirrel when she went to bed.
Baby blogger

Emma’s class has a small stuffed turtle that they get to take turns taking home. Then at the end of the week, they get to write a story about what they did with “Timothy”. The parent is supposed to write exactly what their child says and not add any words or correct theirs. Emma finally had her turn and she was SO excited (are you surprised Emma was excited?). She had been planning his visit since the beginning of the year. It was a good week and we managed not to lose Timothy even though he’s a little bugger. I typed out Emma’s story as she dictated to me. I would like to think of this as Emma’s first (of many haha) blogs to come.
